Plant Inspection & Certification Ltd

Plant Inspection & Certification Ltd are able to provide services to enable you to fulfil your statutory requirements under the H&SAW etc. Act 1974.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998(PUWER 98) were made under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSWA) and came into force on 05 December 1998.

PUWER 98 brings into effect the non-lifting aspects of the Amending Directive to the Use of Work Equipment Directive (AUWED). The primary objective of PUWER 98 is to ensure work equipment should not give rise to health and safety risk, regardless of it's age, condition or origin.

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) were also made under the HSWA and came into force on 05 December 1998. The regulations apply in all premises and work situations subject to the HSWA and build on the requirements of PUWER.

PUWER 98 applies to the provision and use of work equipment including mobile and lifting equipment. Although PUWER 98 applies to all lifting equipment, LOLER applies over and above the general requirements of PUWER 98 in dealing with specific hazards and risks associated with lifting equipment and lifting operations.
